We are seeking an experienced Assistant Property Controller who is responsible for ensuring all activity is accurately recorded in the financial statements from income control, accounts payable, payroll, fixed assets and financial accounting. They also ensure compliance with internal controls, GAAP, NIGC, and Tribal Gaming Authority.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Review and approve general ledger journal entries prepared by his or her staff for accuracy and ensure accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) as well as the SVCR accounting policies and procedures.
  • Plan and monitor all revenue audit accounting transactions, internal controls, financial and statistical reporting, and reconciliations.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls for all departments and administrative controls as related to team members, policies and procedures, Regulations, State Compact, MICS, and NIGC.
  • Ensure timeliness of tax and license submissions, payments and all other required reporting to regulatory agencies.
  • Prepare and analyze daily paperwork and reports; develop and implement recommendations for improved efficiency.
  • Coordinate, with Director of Finance and Property Controller, activities with external and internal auditors.
  • Prepare monthly F&B reports.
  • Supervisor daily payroll function, providing assistance as needed. Ensure adequate coverage for the accounting team; oversees the supervision of staff, including work allocation, scheduling, training and problem resolution.
  • Liaison with IT to resolve any system problems related to systems used by the department.
  • On a monthly basis, review month end journal entries, account reconciliations, participate in the month end process of reviewing preliminary financial statements and resolve any unknown or unexplained items.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Must be a minimum of 21 years of age.
  • Minimum BA in Accounting or Finance required; CPA or MBA is preferred.
  • Minimum five years previous accounting experience to include general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, purchasing, fixed assets, and financial analysis, with oversight of financials required, in a comparably sized property.
  • Minimum two years in supervisory capacity.
  • Previous experience with AS400 and Infinium or related accounting system is preferable.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment while meeting constant deadlines and maintaining strong attention to details.
  • Excellent communication skills, customer service and team oriented, self-starter, and professional maturity.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Products: Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook.
  • Ability of complex reading, writing, math, and task completion skills is required.
  • Must have the following skills: clerical, compiling, coordination, analyzing, instructing, following instructions, influencing others, problem solving, independent judgment, and decision making.
  • Gaming experience is preferred.
  • Must be willing and able to work non-traditional schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Work week may routinely exceed 40 hours per week.
